RESOLUTION NO. - 2026
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE 7-MILE
BRIDGE FROM 6:00 A.M. TO 9:00 A.M. ON THE 101h DAY OF APRIL 2027.
WHEREAS, The Marathon Runners Club, Inc. annually sponsors the 7-Mile
Bridge Run in Marathon; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to temporarily close the 7-Mile Bridge from 6:00 AM
to 9:00 AM for the Run; and
WHEREAS, the 7-Mile Bridge Run has thousands of participants and benefits our
local youth; and
WHEREAS, F.S. 337.406(1) authorizes the County to issue permits for temporary
use and closure of U.S. 1 if the use will not interfere with the safe and efficient
movement of traffic, will cause no danger to the public, and is necessary; and
WHEREAS, The Florida Department of Transportation has requested Monroe
County also authorize the closure as stated herein; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, hereby authorizes the closing of the 7-Mile Bridge
from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM for the 46th Annual 7-Mile Bridge Run sponsored by the
Marathon Runners Club, Inc.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on April 151h, 2026.

Re: 46th Annual 7-Mile Bridge Run
Dear Members of Monroe County Commission,
The Marathon Runners Club respectfully requests to be added to the agenda for the next
scheduled meeting. We are requesting approval for the running of the 46th Annual 7-Mile Bridge
Run for Saturday, April 10, 2027 from 6:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. We are very proud to say that our
local youth have benefitted from proceeds from the 7-Mile Bridge Run since it began in
1982. We appreciate the overwhelming response we receive from our annual event and
thankful to participants, sponsors, volunteers and the continued support of our community.
We will be acquiring all the necessary permits, insurances and certificates which will be
provided to you upon request at the completion of receipt.
We are anxious to hear from you following the outcome of your next meeting so we can proceed
with planning next year's running event. Please acknowledge the approval of the 46th Annual 7-
Mile Bridge Run by the Monroe County Commission by email to gsayeir irnylkcs„corn. Please
send me the confirmation and the link of the approval/minutes which would make it easier to
printout so we can present it to the DOT and other entities that require it.
