AGENDA ITEM WORDING:
Approval to advertise a competitive solicitation for comprehensive billing services associated with the
Fire Inspection Billing Program, coordinated through the Department of Emergency Services (Monroe
County Fire Rescue), in support of fire inspections performed by the Monroe County Fire Marshal's
Office. Funding is through Fund 148.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The Monroe County Emergency Services Department(Monroe County Fire Rescue)plans to
competitively solicit services of responsible and responsive contractors to provide comprehensive
billing services, including but not limited to invoicing applicable commercial and residential property
owners/tenants and other associated services, for purposes of collecting fees incurred as a result of
services performed by the Monroe County Fire Marshal's Office. Under Florida law, the Fire Marshal
(i.e. local fire official /authority having jurisdiction) must perform routine fire prevention inspections
and re-inspections on certain structures, buildings, or occupancies. The purpose of this solicitation is
to identify a service provider who can assist MCFR in management and recovery of the fees
associated with these inspections as required by the Florida Fire Prevention Code and the Monroe
County Code.
