Special Meeting
Board of County Commissioners
Tuesday, October 21, 1988
Key West
A Special Meeting of the Monroe County Board of
County Commissioners convened at 9:00 a.m. on the above date
in the Commission Chambers at 310 Fleming Street in Key
West. Present and answering to roll call were Commissioner
William Freeman, Commissioner Jerry Hernandez, Jr., and
Mayor Eugene Lytton. Absent from the meeting were
Commissioners Michael Puto and John Stormont. Also present
were Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; Randy Ludacer, County
Attorney; Tom Brown, County Administrator; Dent Pierce,
Assistant County Administrator/Public Works Division;
members of the Press and Radio; and the general public.
Motion was made by Commissioner Freeman and
seconded by Commissioner Hernandez to declare an emergency
for the purpose of conducting this Special Meeting. Motion
carried unanimously.
Dent Pierce, Assistant County Administrator/Public
Works Division, discussed an opportunity to have some paving
done by The Brewer Co. of Florida, Inc. at a reduced cost to
the County due to the fact that they are doing extensive
paving work for the City in the area of the Garrison Bight
Causeway. Motion was made by Commissioner Freeman and
seconded by Commissioner Hernandez to waive the requirements
of the Purchasing Policies and Procedures and accept the
following proposal from The Brewer Co. of Florida, Inc.:
Resurface the Garrison Bight Causeway
from u.s. 1 to Eisenhower Drive for
the price of $18,500.00; said price
to include all necessary preparatory
work and maintenance of traffic
Motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned.
