A special meeting! of the Board of County Commissioners.convened on the above date. Present and answering to roll call were Commissioner Alison Fahrer, Commissioner Wilhelmina Harvey, and Mayor pro tem Ken I Sorensen . Commissioner EdiSwift'and Chairman Jerry Hernandez, Jr. were absent';. Also present were Danny IL. Kolhage, Deputy Clerk; Luciien Proby, County Attorney; Kermit Lewin, County Administrator; members of the Press and Radio; Members of the Consulting 'Engineering Firm; and general public. All stood for the,; Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. First item was presentation/explanation of new road system atlas and supplemen;;tary computerized listing ofi roads by Mr. Bob Harris of the 0ounty's Consulting Engineering Firm, Post, Buckley, Schuh and Jernigan, Inc. Mr. Lee Swanson also of the -firm of Post, Buckley, Schuh and Jernigan, Inc., described Jn detail how the road atlas was put together and how it could be used to locate roads in Monroe County. Mr. Harris;; presented and discussed ani existing and proposed list'iing of work program priority, pro- jects. He also discussed1proposed new Standards and Speci- fications and Details foritounty Roads and the need to' enact a Section Chapter 16 on Streets and Highways in the Monroe County Code. Motion was made by Commissioner Fahrer and seconded by Commissioner Harvey to authorize the preparation and advertisement of an or;;dinance establishing Specifiica- tions and Details for Monrioe County Roads to be incorporated as Chapter 16 in the Monro„e County Code and also to make the necessary changes to Chapt;,er 17 which is the Plat Filing Ordinance. Motion carried,i unanimously. Mr. Harris then discussed the provisions of Chapter 83-3 concerning the Local-0ption Gas Tax and also the various tables reflecting:Monroe County/Municipal Distribution Formulas. He! indicated that their firm recom- mended the enactment of Table No. 3. JHe also discussed the percentage distribution offs the budgeting of the County's portion of allowable expenditures under Chapter 83-3. Mayor pro tem Sorensen then advised the Board that it was his opi- nion that the County needeid to prepare a press release to explain the various proposals and options under the Local Gas Tax Law prior to the public hearing on the ordinance on June 105 1983.
