Board of County Commissioners
Monday, August 16, 1982
10:00 A.M., Marathon, Florida
A Special Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners
convened on the above date. Present and answering to roll call
were Commissioner Curt Blair, Commissioner Wilhelmina Harvey,
and Mayor George Dolezal. Commissioner Jerry Hernandez, Jr.,
and Commissioner Ken Sorensen were absent. Also present were
Danny L. Kolhage, Deputy Clerk; Lucien Proby, County Attorney;
Kermit Lewin, County Administrator; members of the Press and
Radio; and general public.
All stood for the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance to
the Flag.

Mayor Dolezal discussed the tentative budget which was
before the Board, for acceptance, and indicated that it would be
necessary to call for a tentative budget hearing on September
30, 1982 at 5:00 P.M. Mayor Dolezal asked if there were any mem-
bers of the public who had questions concerning the tentative
budgets of the Board of County Commissioners for Fiscal Year
1982-83 as presented. Mrs. Allison Fahrer requested and received
a copy of the tentative budget.

The Clerk to the Board then, in accordance with the
provions of the Florida Statutes, presented the tentative Monroe
County Budget for Fiscal Year 1982-83. Motion was made by
Chairman Dolezal and seconded by Commissioner Harvey to accept
the tentative Budgets of the Board of County Commissioners for
Fiscal Year 1982-83, in the following amounts and also to call
for a tentative public hearing on September 30, 1982 at 5:00 P.M.
in Key West, Florida and to direct the Clerk to notify the
Property Appraiser:

Roll call vote was taken and carried unanimously. Motion
was made by Chairman Dolezal and seconded by Commissioner Blair
to adopt the following resolution pursuant to Chapter 200.0654
(d) and (c), Florida Statutes adopting the proposed tentative
Millages to be levied for Fiscal Year 1982-83 as follows and
directing the Clerk to certify same to the County Property
Appraiser:

Mr. Aguero discussed a letter he had received from the
Department of Environmental Regulation concerning the Long Key
Dump and requested that the dump be closed on Mondays for a
period of two weeks in order to accomplish some of the improve-
ments necessary to comply with the letter and the Department of
Environmental Regulation. No action was taken.
Commissioner Blair discussed the recent resignation of
Mr. Rob Devitt from the Zoning Board. Motion was made by
Commissioner Blair to nominate Kay Finley, Attorney in Key West,
to serve as a replacement for Mr. Rob Devitt on the Monroe County
Zoning Board. Motion was made by Chairman Dolezal and seconded
by Commissioner Harvey to confirm the appointment. Roll call was
taken and carried unanimously.

A meeting of the Board of Governors Municipal Service
I Taxing District 2 was held on the above date. Chairman Dolezal
advised that he was appointing Commissioner Blair to serve as
replacement for Commissioner Hernandez who was not present. Roll
call was taken with the following present: Commissioners Curt
Blair, Commissioner Wilhelmina Harvey and Chairman George
Dolezal. Also present were Danny L. Kolhage, Deputy Clerk;
Lucien Proby, County Attorney; Kermit Lewin, County
Administrator; members of the Press and Radio; and general public.
Motion wa~ made by Chairman Dolezal and seconded by
Commissioner Blair to adopt the following Resolution accept-
ing the tentative budget and certifing a tentative millage
to the Property Appraiser in the amount of .389 mills and
also calling for a tentative budget hearing on September
30, 1982 at Key:West, after 5:00 P.M. Roil call vote was
taken and carried unanimously.
