RESOLUTION NO. 204-1995
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, NAMING THE PARK ON KEY LARGO
'FRIENDSHIP PARK' AND NAMING THE BALL FIELD IN THE
PARK 'NEWPORT FIELD' .
WHEREAS, on May 19, 1994, Monroe County purchased Lots 15
through 21, Block 4, Industrial Acres Subdivision and Lots 31 and
32, Block 2, Hibiscus Park Subdivision for the purpose of con-
structing a park; and
WHEREAS, a local radio station held a contest to decide the
name of the park; and
WHEREAS, the winning name was determined to be ' Friendship
Park' and the name of the softball field was determined to be
'Newport Field'; and

WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Board, at ~g~lar3fee~~ngs,
has heard from the public that the local commun~y;~s ln c~sen-
sus that the park should be named ' Friendship P~S" and,. th~ the

WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Board vote~::t(4-0) to recom-
mend that the Board of County Commissioners approJie:the ~ov~~men-

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
That the County officers, departments and agencies are hereby
directed to recognize and use the name of Friendship Park and
Newport Field on all here-after issued County maps, signage and
brochures showing County parks.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County Florida, at a regular meeting of the Board held on
the 21st day of June, 1995.
