03/13/1985 SpecialCC - 060 Special Meeting Board of County Commissioners Wednesday, March 13, 1985 Chapel, Public Service Building Stock Island, Key West, Florida A special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners convened on the above date. Present and answering to roll call were Commissioner Alison Fahrer, Commissioner William Freeman, Commissioner John Stormont, Commissioner Ed Swift, and Mayor Wilhelmina Harvey. Also present were Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; Kermit Lewin, County Administrator; Lucien Proby, County Attorney; Charles Siemon and Lane Kendig, members of the County's Consulting Engineers Firm; Dr. James Nicholas; members of the Press and Radio; and the general,public. All stood for the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mr. Charles Siemon of the County's Consulting Engineers addressed the Board concerning the Draft Plan that would be presented beginning Monday, March 18th. The Board then discussed future Public Hearings to consider the pro- posed Draft Land Use Plan and Map. After discussion, motion was made by Commissioner Fahrer and seconded by Commissioner Stormont to call Special Meetings for April loth in Key West in Courtroom B at the Monroe County Courthouse at 7:00 p.m., April 11th at Coral Shores High School Cafetorium in Plantation Key at 7:00 p.m., and April 13th at 9:00 a.m. at Marathon High School Cafetorium for the purpose of con- ducting Public Hearings on the Draft Land Use Plan and Map; also a Special Meeting on April 26th at 7:00 p.m. at Marathon High School Cafetorium for the purpose of the con- sideration of transmittal of the Draft Land Use Plan and Map to DCA for review. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor Harvey indicated that a Local Planning Agency Meeting would be held at Marathon High School Cafetorium at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25th for the purpose of con- sidering the Draft Land Use Plan and Map. Dr. James Nicholas then addressed the Board and the public present concerning his Preliminary Report on the Economic Impact of the Comprehensive Management Plan of Monroe County. He indicated that since at this time there was no Plan in effect, that his Preliminary Report dealt primarily with what he felt would be required by a Plan which implemented the existing Principles for Guiding Development. Al Fried, Bob Ernst and Allan DePierrefeu questioned Dr. Nicholas on several points concerning his Report. The Board then proceeded with discussion of the Preliminary Report. After further discussion, there being no further action, the Board adjourned at approximately 11:30 a.m.
