Special Meeting
Board of County Commissioners

Key West
A Special Meeting of the Board of County
Commissioners convened on the above date in Key West.
Present and answering to roll call were Commissioner Alison
Fahrer, Commissioner William Freeman, Commissioner John Storm
Commissioner Ed Swift, and Mayor Wilhelmina Harvey. Also
present were Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; Susan Vernon,
Assistant County Attorney; County staff; members of the
Press and Radio; and the general public.
All stood for the Invocation and Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag.
This meeting was called for the purpose of meeting
with the new Secretary Department of Community Affairs, Mr.
Tom Lewis. Mayor Harvey advised those present that Mr.
Lewis would not be able to make todays meeting due to mecha-
nical difficulties with the airplane that was to bring him
to Key West. Mayor Harvey further advised that this meeting
would be continued until 10:00 a.m., October 14th at the
same location and that Mr. Lewis would be here at that time.
Mr. John DeGrove, Jim Murli and Charles Sieman were all
recognized and made general comments concerning the Board's
planning work.
The Board entered into general discussion. Mayor
Harvey recognized the Honorable Ervin Higgs, Monroe County
Property Appraiser who addressed the Board concerning some
items that concerned the Land Use Plan. Mr. William Westray
representing the Florida Keys Citizens Coalition addressed
the Board and advised of their support in the continuing
planning process. Ms. Joan Tucker, Real Estate Agent
addressed the Board concerning the effect of the plan on
private property. Motion was made by Commissioner Swift and
seconded by Commissioner Freeman to continue until 10:30
a.m., October 14, 1985, Courtroom B, Key West, Florida.
Motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business the meeting was
adjourned.
