provided by the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services,
the purchase of automatic external defibrillators for the use of BPVFD members in their
capacity as First Responders to cardiac emergencies.

program of providing First Responder care in the event of a cardiac emergency. This
includes the use of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) to enhance the probability of
survival from cardiac arrest.
3. INSOFAR as MCEMS deems it appropriate and consonant with BPVFD programs and
policies, MCEMS Medical Director is responsible for reviewing and approving these
BPVFD members training procedures for use of the AED. The training is an add-on
component with the BPVFD scheduled biennial certification in Cardio Pulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR) to the BLS-C or professional rescuer level under the American
heart Association (AHA) protocols.
