ORDINANCE NO. 020 -1987
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE ACCRUAL OF
ANNUAL LEAVE BY COUNTY EMPLOYEES; AMENDING
SECTION 2-121(b)(4) OF THE MONROE COUNTY
CODE; AUTHORIZING UP TO 40 WORKING DAYS IN
ACCRUED ANNUAL LEAVE; PROVIDING FOR FORFEI-
TURE OF ANNUAL LEAVE ACCRUED IN EXCES S OF
FORTY WORKING DAYS; PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT TO
EMPLOYEES WHO PRESENTLY HAVE ACCRUED LEAVE IN
EXCESS OF FORTY WORKING DAYS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
WITH THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION
IN THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF MONROE COUNTY;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1.
That Section 2-121(b)(4) of the Monroe County
Code be amended to read as follows:
(4) Annual leave may be used on a month-to-month basis
as it is earned and may be accumulated up to
forty working days, in accordance with the
scheduling regulations. Any time earned in excess
of this amount will automatically be forfeited at
the end of the next fiscal year.
Any county
employee who has annual leave time earned in
excess of forty working days as of October 1,
1987, shall at that time be paid for annual leave
in excess of forty working days. After October 1,
1987, no employee will be compensated for annual
leave time earned in excess of forty working days.
Section 2.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
provision of this ordinance is held invalid, the remainder of
this ordinance shall not be effected by such invalidity.
Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of
said conflict.
Section 4.
The provisions of this ordinance shall be
included and incorporated in the Code of Ordinances of the County
of Monroe, Florida, as an addition or amendment thereto, and
shall be renumbered to conform to the uniform numbering system of
the Code.
Section 5.
This ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon receipt of the official notice from the office of the
Secretary of State of the State of Florida that this ordinance
has been filed with said office.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 7th day of

Board with respect to any matter considered at such hearings or
meetings, he will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for
such purpose, he may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the
proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and
evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
Copies of the above-referenced ordinance are available for
review at the various public libraries in Monroe County, Florida.
