Marathon, Florida
A Special Meeting of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners convened at
9:00 AM., on the above date at the Marathon Government Center in Marathon. Present and
answering to roll call were Commissioner George Neugent, Commissioner David P. Rice,
Commissioner Dixie Spehar, Commissioner Charles "Sonny" McCoy and Mayor Murray E.
Nelson. Also present were Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; Richard Collins, County Attorney; James
Roberts, County Administrator; County Staff, members of the press and radio; and the general
public.
All stood for the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance.
ADDITIONS, CORRECTIONS, AND DELETIONS
There were no Additions, Corrections, or Deletions made to the Agenda.
WORKSHOP
Planning Director Marlene Conaway and Kim Rohrs of the Planning and Environmental
Resources Department made a presentation before the Board to discuss an Ordinance designating
Conservation and Natural Area (CNA) map boundaries and an Interim Moratorium Ordinance
deferring ROGO and NROGO allocations in areas of hammock and pinelands within the CNA
until amendments to the 2010 Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations
implementing the Work Program mandated by Rule 28-20, F.AC. are complete and adopted or
twelve months, whichever comes first.
After the above presentation and discussion by the Board, the following public speakers
addressed the Commission: George Wilson, Alicia Putney, Joan Borel, John Hammerstrom, John
Larkin, representing Environmental Tactics; Dennis Henize; Elizabeth Miller, Katie Lyons, and
Kathy Wheeler, representing the Big Pine Key Civic Association.
The County Administrator informed the Board that today's meeting would be replayed on
the County's Channel 16 on May 12, 17, & 18th, 2004 at 5:00 p.m.
There being no further business, the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners was
adjourned.
