RESOLUTION NO. 003 -1994
A RESOLUTION OF THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT
APPLICATION TO THE FY94 FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION HIGHWAY BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, many roadside areas and median strips abutting
Department of Transportation right-of-way areas must be
maintained for safety and attractively landscaped; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County, through the Marathon Old Town
Merchants Association and the Marathon Community of
Concerned Citizens, desires that Monroe County beautify and
improve certain rights-of-way areas within the County by
landscaping; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transp~rtation. ."
Highway Beautification Council has funds avaiLable to~ -
provide assistance in the implementation of Su~?_ ..~ landsc@e
program with a 50% match requirement; and=~- $

WHEREAS, the project area will encompass ~th St~et'~
Gulf to 43rd Street Gulf, and a five block are~:~ast ~d '
west of 11th Street in Marathon and will be des.:igned Hi th :_:~

WHEREAS, the Community Associations request $25,000.00
in DOT funds to implement this project and have agreed to
provide for the maintenance of this project with minimal
county assistance; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the County Administrator is
hereby authorized to apply for a Highway Beautification
Grant from the Florida Department of Transportation on
behalf of the Marathon Old Town Merchants Association and
the Community of Concerned Citizens.
