Resolution 056-1989 RESOLUTION NO. 056-1989 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHOR I ZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION UNDER THE COASTAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AND DIRECTING THE EXECUTION OF SAME BY THE PROPER COUNTY AUTHORITIES WHEREAS, there are more than 700 canals in Monroe County, Florida, many of which have severe water quality problems, causing numerous difficulties for residents living near them, and WHEREAS, it has been suggested that aeration of canals may produce dramatic improvements in water quality at a reasonable cost, and WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation has issued a Notice of Availability of Funds under the Coastal Management Program, providing grants of up to $50,000 and requiring a match which may consist entirely of in-kind contributions, and WHEREAS, the said grant program could fund a demonstration project to determine the feasibility of canal aeration to improve water quality in our canals, which project would have both local and statewide benefits, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the County Administrator is hereby directed to submit a grant application to the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation under the Coastal Management Program and to execute all necessary documents in furtherance thereof. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 7th day of February, A.D. 1981.
