Harvey RESOLUTION NO. 431~2000 A RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF THE LATE FRANK DIXON MOWERY WHEREAS, Frank Dixon Mowery, passed away on September 21, 2000 at the age of 79; and WHEREAS, Frank Dixon Mowery was born on November 17, 1920 in Brinkhaven, Ohio, the son of Margery Horton and Harold Mowery; and WHEREAS, his family moved to Mansfield, Ohio, where he completed high school. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted and became a civilian employee of the Navy; and WHEREAS, Frank Mowery worked to establish and maintain the communications systems on the islands and on the Navy ships. During a Naval sea voyage he suffered a spinal injury, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. He taught himself how to walk, and continued working in the electronics field the remainder of his life; and WHEREAS, when personal computers became available in 1970, he started learning how to maintain and to program computers; and WHEREAS, all through his life, he donated many hours to training and encouraging young people in the electronics field; and WHEREAS, Frank Mowery, was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Millenbruck Mowery, in 1964, and in 1967 he married Joan and they moved to the Florida Keys in 1986; and WHEREAS, Frank Mowery leaves his beloved wife, Joan R. Mowery; a daughter and son-in~law Melinda Ann Mowery and Dean Deulwaarder of Vancouver, Wash.; a son and daughter~in-Iaw, Michael and Diana (Cole) Mowery of Grove City, Ohio; a granddaughter; and a great granddaughter in North Carolina; his mother-in-law, Stella R. Sweezie of Lucas, Ohio, and many, many friends to cherish his memory; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Board hereby adopts this Resolution as evidence of its regret and mourning for the passing of the late Frank Mowery, and in recognition of his dedication and public service to the community. Section 2. Mayor Emeritus Harvey forwards a copy of this Resolution to his beloved wife, Joan R. Mowery, and family to express the Board's sorrow. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 18th day of October, 2000.
