[~:- ~~, Monroe County Commission '89 l'lAR 17 ~~OltTION NO. 133 -1989 A [;.RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS- SIONERS.OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, APPROVING 'lHlltHPtACEMENT OF AN HONORARIUM PLAQUE ON THE OLD MONROE COUNTY COURTHOUSE AND PROVIDING THAT THE FIRST NAME TO BE INSCRIBED ON SAID PLAQUE IS TO BE THAT OF FORMER MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF WILLI~I A. FREEMAN, JR. WHEREAS, William A. Freeman, Jr., served on the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners from 1955 through November of 1974, and WHEREAS, he was an elected state representative from November of 1974 to November of 1976, and WHEREAS, he served as Monroe County Sheriff from January of 1977 until January of 1989, and WHEREAS, during his many years of public service he showed a tireless devotion to his duties and was an outstanding public servant, exhibiting at all times statesmanlike conduct and a superb sense of fairness and equity in his dealings with others regardless of race, creed or national origin, and WHEREAS, he was always unflagging in his pursuit of truth and in the care and nurture of the tree of liberty and the flower of justice, and WHEREAS, he was a master in the art of being honest, and WHEREAS, his compassion, concern for his fellow human beings, dignity and courage in the face of extreme hardship will be sorely missed by the citizens of Monroe County, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, desires to have an honorarium plaque placed on the Old Monroe County Courthouse, and WHEREAS, in consideration of his many years of service and his accomplishments throughout those years, the Board desires to provide that the first name to be inscribed on said honorarium plaque is to be that of former Monroe County Sheriff William A. Freeman, Jr., now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board hereby approves the , placement of an honorarium plaque on the old Monroe County Courthouse. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the first name to be inscribed on said plaque is to be that of former Monroe County Sheriff William A. Freeman, Jr. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the ~ day of March, A.D. 1989.
