RESOLUTION NO. 195 -1989
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING
OPPOSITION TO AND URGING THE FLORIDA
LEGISLATURE NOT TO ADOPT HOUSE BILL 186.
WHEREAS, House Bill 186 has been submitted to the Florida
Legislature for consideration during the 1989 Regular Session,
and
WHEREAS, said House Bill 186 provides that the burning of
solid waste be prohibited within a five (5) mile radius of
environmentally sensitive areas, and
WHEREAS, the use of incinerators provides a viable option
for disposal of solid waste, and
WHEREAS, Monroe County has three (3) incinerator sites that
house eight (8) incinerator units, and
WHEREAS, incinerator units will have to replaced by the
1995, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, desires to express its opposition to and urge the
Florida Legislature not to adopt said House Bill 186, now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. The Board hereby expresses its opposition to House Bill
186, which provides that the burning of solid waste be prohibited
within a five (5) mile radius of environmentally sensitive areas,
and hereby urges the Florida Legislature not to adopt said House
Bill 186.
2. The Legislative Delegation of Monroe County is hereby
requested to support Monroe County in its opposition to House
Bill 186.
3. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to forward
copies of this resolution to the members of the Monroe County
Legislative Delegation,
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 4th day of April, A.D. 1989.
