RESOLUTION NO. 287-1989
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, OPPOSING
THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF THE
INTERIOR TO INCLUDE MONROE COUNTY IN ITS
COASTAL BARRIER RESOURCE SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Interior has
proposed that the Florida Keys be included in its coastal barrier
resource system, and
WHEREAS, at a joint hearing on March 22, 1989, the
subcommittees received testimony from the officials of the
Department who drafted the report, and
WHEREAS, the people of Monroe County are opposed to the
proposal, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Honorable Dante Fasce11 is urged
to continue to assert the opposition of the people of the Florida
Keys to the inclusion of the Florida Keys in the coastal barrier
resource system.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of the
Board is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this
resolution to the Honorable Dante Fasce11, the Honorable Bob
Graham and the Honorable Connie Mack.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
