WHEREAS, the tax load on property owners within the State of
Florida is inordinately heavy, particularly as regards the
distribution of taxes to schools, and
WHEREAS, the tax load would be more equally distributed
amongst the property owners of the State of Florida were the
Homestead Exemption to be applied to the second $25,000 of
appraised property value, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1.
Senator Larry Plummer, Representative Ron
Saunders and Monroe County Property Appraiser Ervin A. Higgs, are
hereby requested to support legislation providing that the State
of Florida Homestead Exemption be applicable to the second
$25,000 of appraised property value.
Section 2. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to
forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Senator Larry
Plummer, Representative Ron Saunders and Monroe County Property
Appraiser Ervin A. Higgs.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of the Board held on
the 13th day of December, 1989.
