RESOLUTION NO. 005 -1986
A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME OF THE MARA-
THON AIRSTRIP TO "MARATHON AIRPORT" AND ALSO
CHANGING THE TITLE OF THE AIRPORT SUPERVISOR
AT SAID AIRPORT TO "AIRPORT MANAGER".
WHEREAS, the airport facility has been known as the Marathon
Airstrip, but because of the improvements made over the past
years, it has taken on the qualities and aspects of an airport
facility, and
WHEREAS, said facility will continue to be enlarged and
become a major port of entry and exit from the Florida Keys, and
WHEREAS, the use of the term "Marathon Airstrip" has long
since been outlived by the development of the facility and the
use of the term "Marathon Airstrip" is now misleading and conse-
quently an improper definition of the facility as it is together
with the fact that the use of the term "Airport Supervisor"
should be more properly altered and changed to entitle the
supervisor of this facility as an airport manager, now, there-
fore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That the aviation facility located in Marathon and
heretofore known as the Marathon Airstrip shall hereafter be
known as "Marathon Airport".
2. That the chief operating officer of said facility
located in Marathon shall henceforth be known as "Airport Manag-
er".
3. That the Director of Airports, Arthur R. Skelly, be
instructed to advise the necessary agencies to be certain that
all mapping relating to said airport is changed to reflect the
provisions of this resolution.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the lOthday of January, A.D, 1986.
