A RESOLUTION SETTING DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR
PUBLIC HEARING FOR PROPOSED ABANDONMENT OF A
PORTION OF HAKLUYT LANE IN CUTTHROAT HARBOR
ESTATES, CUDJOE KEY, MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, desires to renounce and disclaim any right of the County
and the public in and to the hereinafter described streets,
alley-ways, roads or highways, and
WHEREAS, under Chapter 336, Florida Statutes, it is neces-
sary to hold a public hearing after publishing due notice of said
hearing in accordance with said Chapter, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that at 3:00 P.M., Friday, June 20, 1986,
in Courtroom "B", 500 Whitehead Street, Key West, Monroe County,
Florida, said Board will hold a public hearing to determine
whether or not said Board will renounce and disclaim any right of
the County and the public in and to the following described
streets, alley-ways, roads or highways:
Located at the Northwest end of Hakluyt Lane
in Cutthroat Harbor Estates on Cudjoe Key,
Monroe County, Florida. The parcel is 25'
wide by approximately 41' deep with the
Northwest corner being erroded and under
water. The parcel is approximately 1,025
square feet including the submerged portion.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said
Board be, and he is hereby authorized to publish notice of said
meeting in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 335, Florida
Statutes.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
on the 4th day of April, A.D. 1986.

As per your recent request concerning the abandonment of a section of the above
referenced roadway, I have had Mr. Harvey Wachob, Engineering Co-ordinator,
fuDroughly research the matter and have attached a copy of his report for your
revi ew .
I concur with Mr. Wachob's opinion on this matter and our department, therefore,
has no objection to the petitioner'S request that this portion of Hakluyt Lane be
abandoned.
If you have any need for additional information on this subject, please do not

I can really see no objection to this portion of Hak1uyt Lane
being abandoned. Knowing that you are as familiar with this
particular sjtuation as I am, you know that the West half of the
turnaround "tee" is about all there is of Lot 12 and part of this
tee extends into the water.
(Please see Petsche survey.)
In view of the fact that this "tee" could be a liability if
constructed one day,. I can not see any benevolence in Monroe
County retaining possession of it.
