Resolution 229-1986 Commissioner Edwin O. Swift, III RESOLUTION NO. 229-1986 WHEREAS, there is a need for a runway extension at the Key West International Airport to allow safe landing of larger and quieter new jets and to increase international flights, and WHEREAS, the area west of the Key West International Airport consists of salt ponds with potentially great natural and historical interests to the citizens of Monroe County, Florida, and tourists alike, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that said Board hereby grants conceptual approval to the Restoration, Education and Mitigation Plan proposed for the Key West Area Salt Ponds as being in the best interests of the citizens of Monroe County, Florida. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 25th day of July, A.D. 1986.
