RESOLUTION NO. 149 -1994
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMllIS-
SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN
RECOGNITION OF THE LATE LAURA ELIZABETH
"BETTY" BRUCE.
WHEREAS, on February 13, 1994, Mrs. Betty Bruce, died at her
home at the age of 75 after a lengthy illness, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Bruce, a fourth generation "Conch," was _~orn

WHEREAS, Mrs. Bruce, a retired researcher, was the founder
of the local and Florida history sections of the Monroe County
Public Library, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Bruce, committed to truth in historical
research, retired in 1985 after 20 years of service in the
library's history department, and she was also on the founding
research committee of the Old Island Restoration Foundation, and
her work on that committee helped create the history department
at the library in 1965-65, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board hereby adopts this
Resolution in recognition of the late Betty Bruce for all of her
accomplishments and in recognition of her contributions to this
community.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe: County, Florida, at a regular meeting of the Board held on
