SUBMITTAL FOR A DRUG ELIMINATION GRANT
BY-THE MONROE COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY

Development (HUD) has established funding
for a
Drug
Elimination Grant Program; and
WHEREAS,
the Monroe County
Housing Authority is
eligible to apply for grant funding for the elimination of
drugs in and around public housing; and
WHEREAS,
the Board of Commissioners of the Monroe
County Housing Authority are aggressively pursuing funding
sources for the elimination of drugs and drug related crimes
in and around the Newport Village community in Key Largo; and
WHEREAS, the residents of the Newport Village community
have been instrumental in the design and development of a
grant application in the amount of $15,000 for youth, sports,
and cultural activities with physical security programs; and
WHEREAS,
the Monroe
County
Board
of
County
Commissioners
recognizes
the
Monroe
County
Housing
Authority's successful progress in elimination drugs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County
Commissioners of Monroe County do hereby encourage and
support the application of a Drug Elimination Grant on behalf
of the residents of Newport Village and all of the County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners
of Monroe County, Florida at a regular meeting of said Board
held on the 16th
of June A.D., 1994.
