RESOLUTION NO. 200 -1987
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE TRANSFER OF THE
JURISDICTION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRON-
MENTAL REGULATION FROM ITS FT. MYERS OFFICE
TO THE EAST COAST OFFICE LOCATED AT WEST PALM
BEACH FOR ALL MATTERS RELATING TO AND CON-
CERNING MONROE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, Monroe County at the present time falls within the
jurisdiction of the West coast office of the DER located at Fort
Myers, and
WHEREAS, formerly the jurisdiction of the DER concerning
Monroe County was with the East coast office located at West Palm
Beach, and
WHEREAS, since the West Palm Beach office handles all of the
southeast Florida region and such transfer to that office would
be much more compatible with the activities of Monroe County and
add to a more efficient and orderly disposition of its various
problems, and
WHEREAS, the County Commission has come to the conclusion
that such a transfer would be in the best interest of both the
Department of Environmental Regulation and Monroe County, now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That the jurisdiction of the Department of Environ-
mental Regulation as concerns Monroe County, Florida, be and the
same transferred from its West coast office located at Ft. Myers
to the East coast office located in West Palm Beach.
2. That such a change will be more compatible with the
problems of Monroe County, which lies on the East coast of
Florida, and will probably effect a more orderly conduct of the
buiness of the DER and Monroe County and make the disposition of
problems within this jurisdiction be handled in a more expedi-
tiously and orderly fashion.
3. That the Clerk of the Board is hereby instructed to
furnish a certified copy of this resolution to the Department of
Environmental Regulation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the If~l- day of May, A.D. 1987
