293-1987
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING
THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS TO CONDUCT A
REFERENDUM ELECTION ON OCTOBER 6, 1987, FOR
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A MUNICIPAL SERVICE
TAXING UNIT IN CROSS KEY WATERWAY ESTATES ON
KEY LARGO, FLORIDA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PROVIDING STREET LIGHTING.
WHEREAS, various citizens residing in Cross Key Waterway
Estates Subdivision on Key Largo have requested the creation of a
Municipal Service Taxing Unit to provide street lighting with
such district to be funded by ad valorem taxation and the trans-
fer of approximately $17,000 from the Cross Key Waterway Estates
Special Road and Bridge District; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to F.S. 125.01(y) it is desired to create
such a district only upon approval of the electorate residing in
Cross Key Waterway Estates; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
Section 1.
That the Honorable Peter Ilchuk, Supervisor
of Elections, be, and hereby is, requested to place the question
described in section two of this Resolution on the ballot at the
general election of October 6, 1987, in the following district,
to-wit:
Cross Key Waterway Estates, Section 1, Section 2
and Section 3, including Tract "A" and Tract "B"
thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 6, at pages 51,
60 and 61 of the Official Records of Monroe
County, Florida.
Section 2.
The referendum proposal to be voted upon by
the qualified electors and freeholders of said area shall be
substantially as follows:
CROSS KEY WATERWAY ESTATES SPECIAL LIGHTING DISTRICT
CREATION AND FUNDING THEREOF
Should a Municipal Service Taxing Unit
composed of Sections 1, 2 and 3, Cross Key
Waterway Estates, including Tracts "A" and
"B", recorded in PB 6, pp. 51, 60, and 61,
be created for the purpose of providing
street lighting with funds to be raised by
either special assessment or ad valorem taxation
plus the transfer of $17,000 leftover funds of the
Cross Key Waterway Estates Special Road District?

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 21st day of July, 1987.
