RESOLUTION NO. 503-1987
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING
THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS TO CONDUCT A
REFERENDUM ELECTION ON MARCH 8, 1988, FOR THE
LEVY OF A TOURIST IMPACT TAX AT THE RATE OF
ONE PERCENT ON CERTAIN SHORT TERM LEASES OR
RENTALS OF ACCOMMODATIONS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Honorable Peter Ilchuk, Supervisor of
Elections be, and is hereby requested at the primary election of
March 8, 1988, to place on the ballot the question described in
Section 2 of this Resolution within the following areas, to-wit:
Monroe County, Florida, excluding the City of Key West.
Section 2. The referendum proposal to be voted upon by the
electors of said area shall be in substantially the following
form:
TOURIST IMPACT TAX
Should Monroe County Ordinance No. -1988
be approved? This Ordinance levies, in
Monroe County, an area of critical state
concern, excluding Key West, a 1% tourist tax
on: each dollar of the charge for the 6
month or less rental of tourist
accommodations. The tax shall be used for
the purchase of property and for ad valorem
tax containment.

Monroe County, Florida, at a special meeting of said Board held
on the 29th day of December, A.D., 1987.
