RESOLUTION NO. 033 -1988
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING FEES IN CONFORMANCE
WITH MONROE COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE
NO. 005-1988
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County
has enacted a revision to the Monroe County Code concerning
animal control; and
WHEREAS, Section 2 of Ordinance No. 005 -1988 empowers the
Board of County Commissioners to promulgate reasonable rules and
regulations in the enforcement of the ordinance; and
WHEREAS, Sections 4, 7, 15, and 16 of the Monroe County
Animal Control Ordinance, Ordinance No. 005-1988, require the
Board of County Commissioners to establish certain fees and
discounts; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, that the following rules and regulations shall
apply in the enforcement of the Monroe County Animal Control
Ordinance, Ordinance No. 005-1988:
Section 1.
Impoundment fees and other charges to be made
against the owners and keepers of animals impounded pursuant to
Section 4 of Ordinance No. 005-1988 are as follows:
A. Stray animal pickup fees:
1. First pickup in any calendar year..... $ 25.00
2. Second pickup in any calendar year.... $ 50.00
3. Third pickup in any calendar year..... $100.00
4. Each pickup thereafter in any
calendar year......................... $100.00
B. Shelter fee, per day...................... $ 8.00
Section 2.
Adoption fees and other charges to be made,
pursuant to Section 16 of Ordinance No. 005-1988 are as follows:
A. Adoption of unclaimed animals.............. $ 5.00
B. Vaccination cost charges for health inoculations
as required by Florida Statutes......... As Required
Section 3. Any person or agency collecting such pickup
fees, shelter fees, and adoption fees above shall transmit the
same with appropriate records for deposit in the General Fund of
the County to defray the costs of animal control in Monroe
County. Vaccination fees shall be retained by the persons or
agencies so vaccinating.
Section 4. Pursuant to Section 7 of Ordinance No.
005-1988, the owners and keepers of all dogs in Monroe County
shall pay the following fee for each animal licensed:
A. Individuals. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 6.00
B. Kennels and catteries........................$ 4.00
C. Replacement tags or lost tags........ ...... ..$ 2.00
Section 5. Licensed veterinarians are authorized to
retain One ($1.00) Dollar of each license fee collected as
reimbursement for the cost of his issuance of the license.
Section 6. All persons or agencies issuing licenses and
collecting licensing fees shall transmit the same, less au-
thorized reimbursement, with appropriate records for deposit in
the General Fund of Monroe County to defray the costs of such
licensing.
Section 7. Pursuant to Section 7 of Ordinance No.
005-1988, all dog licenses shall expire on the last day of the
month in which the animal was vaccinated, one year after receiv-
ing such vaccination, and shall be renewed each year thereafter.
Section 8. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 005-1988, the Board
of County Commissioners hereby declare that a reasonable period
of time for the Department Manager to identify the owner or
keeper of an animal which has been impounded pursuant to the
ordinance shall be 5 working days after the date of impoundment
for both licenses and unlicensed animals.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
