108 -1988
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING HOUSE BILL 254 AS
PRE-FILED AND CALLING ON THE LEGISLATORS OF
MONROE COUNTY TO EITHER BECOME CO-SPONSORS OF
SAID BILL, IF POSSIBLE, AND/OR SUPPORT THE
SAME.
WHEREAS, House Bill 254 of the Florida Legislature has
heretofore been pre-filed, and
WHEREAS, House Bill 254 as drawn would make the Key Lime Pie
the official pie of the State of Florida, and
WHEREAS, Key Lime Pie is closely associated with Monroe
County and is one of the significant creations of Monroe County,
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That the Legislators that represent Monroe County are
hereby called on to either co-sponsor and/or support House Bill
254, a pre-filed bill which will declare the Key Lime Pie as the
official pie of the State of Florida.
2. That in passing this resolution the Commission does
hereby wish to let it be known that true Key Limes are only grown
in Monroe County, Florida.
3. That the Clerk of said Board is hereby directed to
forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Monroe County
Legislative delegation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 1st day of March, A.D. 1988.
