RESOLUTION NO. 001-1989
A RESOLUTION DEDICATING THE CUDJOE KEY
SHERIFF'S SUBSTATION TO SHERIFF WILLIAM A.
FREEMAN, JR.
WHEREAS, William A. Freeman, Jr., served on the Monroe
County Board of County Commissioners from 1955 through November
of 1974, and
WHEREAS, he was an elected state representative from
November of 1974 to November of 1976, and
WHEREAS, he served as Monroe County Sheriff from January of
1977 until January of 1989, and
WHEREAS, during his many years of public service he
showed a tireless devotion to his duties and was an outstanding
public servant, exhibiting at all times statesmanlike conduct and
a superb sense of fairness and equity in his dealings with others
regardless of race, creed or national origin, and
WHEREAS, he was always unflagging in his pursuit of truth
and in the care and nurture of the tree of liberty and the flower
of justice, and
WHEREAS, he was a master in the art of being honest, and
WHEREAS, his compassion, concern for his fellow human
beings, dignity and courage in the face of extreme hardship will
be sorely missed by the citizens of Monroe County, now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the new Cudjoe Key Sheriff's
Substation is hereby dedicated to Sheriff William A. Freeman, Jr.
and shall hereafter be known as The Freeman Substation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 3rd day of January, A.D. 1989.
