RESOLUTION NO. 230

A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE MONROE COUNTY
SCHOOL BOARD TO DONATE TO THE COUNTY TRUMAN
SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, Truman School has been abandoned by the school
system for a number of years and has been used by the various
County departments, including the Sheriff for activities and/or
storage; and
WHEREAS, it is evident that this property was purchased and
the buildings thereon erected with public funds that came about
as a result of taxation of the citizens of Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the County Commis-
sion that for some time this property is now for sale by the
School Board; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSION OF HONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA, that:
Section 1.
The School Board donate in fee simple this
property to Monroe County.
Section 2.
The School Board be assured that this do-
nation by them, when accomplished, will be utilized only for
offices for the Clerk of the Court, the Tax Assessor, and the
Property Appraiser.
It is noted, that because of the cramped
quarters in Jackson Square for these departments and the other
necessity for storage and other office activities becoming more
critical by the day that this donation would be most appreciated
and inured to the benefit of these offices, which are public
service facilities.
Section 3.
This Resolution reflects and shows that this
property, known as Truman School, was purchased through tax
dollars paid by the citizens of Monroe County and that the
buildings thereon were paid for in the same identical fashion.
This being true, it is the position of the Monroe County Commis-
sion that the people of this County should not pay twice for this
same property and that the same should be donated to Monroe
County because of it's critical problem in affording space for
certain constitutional officers in Monroe County.
Section 4.
A copy of this Resolution be delivered
forthwith to the Superintendent of Schools of Monroe County and
that a copy of the same be forwarded forthwith to each member of
the Monroe County School Board.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the J/~t day of Jl.I..Y\& , A.D., 1988.
