RESOLUTION NO. 345 -1988
are Americans still missing in Southeast Asia
the recent Vietnam Conflict; and
WHEREAS. there are 2.434 U.S. personnel not accounted for.
81 from the State of Florida and at least one from Monroe County.
Florida; and
WHEREAS. members of the families of POW/MIA's are in a state
of anxiety and uncertainty about the fate of their loved ones who
are considered missing in action or perhaps prisoners of war; and
WHEREAS. the citizens of Monroe County. Florida are aware of
the need of extending recognition to the families of POW/MIA's;
and
WHEREAS. the President of the United States and United
States Congress have recognized the POW/MIA issue. encouraging
awareness of the plight of members of families caught in these
unfortunate circumstances; now, therefore.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
That the State of Florida adopt and issue a state license
plate to members of families whose member has been declared as
missing in action or perhaps a prisoner of war in the recent
conflict in Southeast Asia.
That an appropriate POW/MIA logo and inscription be created
on a State of Florida license plate.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County. Florida. at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 16th day of August. A.D.. 1988.
