RESOLUTION NO. 378-1988
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF STATE AND DIRECTING THE EXECUTION
OF SAME BY THE PROPER COUNTY AUTHORITIES.
WHEREAS,
the Florida Department of State,
Division of
Historical Resources, has solicited applications for Special
Category Grants, said grants being made available for major
preservation proj ects which require significant grant assistance
for restoration and rehabilitation and,
WHEREAS, Monroe County owns the West Martello Tower, a
historic structure which is on the National Register of Historic
Places and which is in need of major restoration and,
WHEREAS,
the
Florida Department
of
State
is
already
supporting this effort through a grant-in-aid for the preparation
of architectural and engineering specifications for restoration
work on the West Martello Tower, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the County Administrator is hereby directed
to submit a Special Category grant application to the Florida
Department of State, Di vi sion of Hi storical Resources, and to
execute the necessary documents in furtherance thereof, and that
County Grants Manager Paul Wick is designated as Project Liaison.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 16th
day of Auqust, A.D. 1988.
