Resolution 391-1988 -...- Planning Director RESOLUTION NO. 391-1988 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING POLITICAL SIGNS PLACED IN MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the 1988 primary and general elections are at hand and candidates in said primary and general elections are now placing political signs throughout the County; and WHEREAS, placement and removal of such signs must be governed by the various departments of the County so as to control sign usage and to perpetuate the aesthetics of the County that could be disturbed by the same; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: 1. That all candidates who place signs in and about Monroe County shall post a $250 one-time refundable bond with the Planning Department of Monroe County subject to certain conditions as stated hereinafter. 2. That the aforesaid bond shall apply to any and all signs that are larger than two square feet. 3. That the $250 bond posted by candidates shall be refundable only and in case all such signs are removed by the candidate within twenty (20) days after the general election. It is provided that failing to remove said signs within the twenty days following the general elections shall cause a forfeiture by the candidate posting said bond, inasfar as the same is posted to insure the removal of said signs. Such removal, in the event of default, shall be accomplished by the Public Works Department of Monroe County.
