A~RESOLUTION OF THE MONROE COUNT BOARD OF
C'2MMISSIONERS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMIS-
. -SION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE
FLORIDA COMMUNITIES TRUST AREA OF CRITI-
;C~L STATE CONCERN PROGRAM TO PROVIDE
.::~ Ft:lNDS FOR A LAND ACQUISITION PROGRAM
TW SECURE ADDITIONAL ACREAGE FOR THE USE
AND DEVELOPMENT OF RESOURCE AND ACTIVITY-
BASED NEIGHBORHOOD AND COMMUNITY PARKS
WHEREAS, the Area of Critical State Concern Program is admin-
istered by the Florida Communities Trust; and
WHEREAS, one of the purposes of the Area of Critical State
Concern Program is to purchase lands that assist an Area of Criti-
cal State Concern county to implement or further the recreation
and open space element of the local comprehensive plan; and
WHEREAS, grant funds are available for Areas of Critical
State Concern with a fifty percent (50 %) local match; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County has $450,000 remaining in the 1994-95
Capital Projects Fund #304 for the purchase of recreational lands
and this money can be used as Monroe County's fifty
(50%) local match; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County requires assistance in furthering the
goals, objectives and policies of the recreation and open space
element of the Monroe County Year 2010 Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, a grant request of four hundred fifty thousand
($450,000) dollars will assist Monroe County in furthering the
recreation and open space element of the Comprehensive Plan; now
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, THAT:
1. The County Administrator is hereby authorized to submit
an application to the Florida Communities Trust for Area of Criti-
cal State Concern Program grant monies in the amount of $450,000
to purchase lands that will assist Monroe County to further the
goals, objectives and policies of the recreation and open space
element of the Monroe County Year 2010 Comprehensive Plan; and
2. The Board of County Commissioners is prepared to meet the
matching requirements of the grant program.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 22nd day of September, A.D., 1994.
