~ua~d n~ti~e Florida Keys landscape surrounded by the community
of Marathon; and
WHEREAS, the Crane Point Hammock Project encompasses unique
examples of high quality Florida Keys habitat as well as areas of
extremely high historical and archeological significance; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Keys Land Trust's Crane Point Hammock
Project will protect these vestiges of the heritage of the
Florida Keys; and
WHEREAS, the Crane Point Hammock Project will provide
education and interpretive facilities for residents and visitors
of the Florida Keys; and
WHEREAS, the Crane Point Hammock Project will promote
community well-being and a higher quality of life for residents
of Monroe County through the preservation of this natural heri-
tage and the public use of educational and interpretive facil-
ities and programs; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
(1) The Crane Point Hammock Project is endorsed as a
significant community benefit; and
(2) The efforts of the Florida Keys Land Trust and the
Monroe County Land Authority to jointly participate in the
acquisition of the Crane Point Hammock Project is supported.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 20th day of September, A. D. 1988.
