Resolution 050-1987 Monroe County Commission RESOLUTION NO.050-l987 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS- SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE, ON BEHALF OF MONROE COUNTY, AND THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO SUBMIT, AN ENERGY CONSERVATION GRANT FOR $60,000 TO THE GOVERNOR'S ENERGY OFFICE. WHEREAS, Monroe County desires to implement an Energy Conservation Program to reduce energy consumption in the County; and WHEREAS, the Governor's Energy Office is requesting grant proposals to fund an Energy Conservation Engineer to assist Monroe County; and WHEREAS, the Governor's Energy Office is offering $30,000 per year for a two year period to fund an Energy Conservation Engineer; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: 1. The Mayor and Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of Monroe County, an Energy Conservation Grant proposal. 2. The County Administrator is hereby directed to submit said Energy Conservation Grant proposal for $60,000 to the Governor's Energy Office. Attornev's Office , . - SUMMARY - ENERGY GRANT The Governor's Energy Office is requesting proposals from cities and counties throughout Florida to fund an Energy Analyst or Engineer, to help Local Government reduce energy consumption. The Energy Office can award $30,000 a year for up to a two year period to pay for salaries, fringe benefits, and miscellaneous expenses to fund this pos iti on. If Monroe County was awarded this Grant, the Energy Analyst would be accountable for the following duties: (1) To design and implement an energy consumption accounting system. (2) To review purchases and capital improvement projects for energy conservation measures. (3) Recommend changes in County policies which adversely effect energy consumption. (4) To review, analyze and make recommendations to the County's Land Use Plan that relate to, and effect energy consumption. (5) To author and disseminate a Comprehensive Energy Brochure. (6) To assist the County's staff during the budget process with gasoline, diesel, electricity, and other budgetary energy allocations. . (7) To cooperate and assist the Private Industry Council in making recommendtions for energy conservation measures for small businesses. (8) To review the County's street lighting policy and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for review and adoption. (9) To create and implement and Energy Conservation Program directed toward County employees. (10) To assist MSD in determining the feasibility of implementing a recycling program in Monroe County and reporting the results to the Board of County Commissioners. * * * * * * *
