RESOLUTION NO. 116 -1987
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA
TO RETURN CERTAIN PROPERTY ON LONG KEY TO
MONROE COUNTY FOR USE AS A SOLID WASTE
FACILITY.
WHEREAS, 20 years ago Monroe County turned over to the State
of Florida certain lands on either side of U. S. 1 on Long Key
for use as a park; and
WHEREAS, only the Atlantic side of the property has been
utilized as a park; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County is desperately in need of a solid
waste facility site in the Middle Keys; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Bay side of the Long Key property is
available for such a site; and
WHEREAS, the State has not utilized the site for its intend-
ed purpose; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNTY COMMISSION OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
Section 1.
The State of Florida is hereby requested to
transfer fee simple title to Monroe County of the Long Key
Recreational Area that lies on the Florida Bay side of U. S. 1
for use as a solid waste facility.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 17th day of February, A.D., 1987
