A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OR MAYOR
PRO-TEM OF MONROE COUNTY TO EXECUTE AND
SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT FUNDS TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS FOR ASSIST-
ANCE IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MONROE COUNTY'S
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR THE TARGET
AREA OF MARATHON BEACH ROCK NEIGHBORHOOD FOR
A $650,000 PROJECT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND
COMMERCIAL REVITALIZATION
CATEGORY
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida recognizes the urgent need for Federal assistance in the
implementation of its proposed Community Development Program for
the target area of Marathon Beach Rock Neighborhood, and
WHEREAS, such Federal assistance is available from the
United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in the
form of Block Grant Funds, and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida Department of Community
Affairs is the agency authorized to administer said Block Grant
Funds program, and
WHEREAS, an official of Monroe County, Florida, must be
authorized to submit application to the State of Florida Depart-
ment of Community Affairs, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor or Mayor Pro-Tern of Monroe
County, Florida, as the Chief Elected Official as required by the
Department of Community Affairs is hereby authorized to execute
and submit an application to the Department of Community Affairs
for Block Grant Funds under the Small Cities Neighborhood and
Commercial Revitalization Program for a $650,000 project for the
County's designated Community Development Target Area of Marathon
Beach Rock Neighborhood between 39th and 41st Streets in Mara-
thon.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption by the Commission and execution by the Presiding Officer
and the Clerk.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the ~oard of County Commissioners of
Monroe County at a Special Meeting in Key West, Florida on the
7th day of January, 1985.
