Resolution 079-1985 County Commission RESOLUTION NO. 079 -1985 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE FLORIDA LEGISLA- TURE TO GRANT RELIEF UNDER STATE LAW ON ASSESSMENTS TO THE FLORIDA PATIENT'S COMPEN- SATION FUND. WHEREAS, Monroe County is experiencing abnormally high assessments relating to the Florida Patient's Compensation Fund created by Florida Statute 768.54, and WHEREAS, hospital facilities in Monroe County are unable to afford and pay such astronomical and high assessments, and WHEREAS, it now appears that the legis lation creating the provisions for such assessments for the Florida Patient's Compen- sation Fund should be either repealed or drastically amended to relieve such burden, and WHEREAS, Monroe County is unable to levy taxes to continue making such assessments and are therefore without funds or resources to pay any future assessments for said hospital usages, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: 1. That the Florida Legislature be and it is hereby requested to enact legislation which would relieve Monroe County of any burden concerning assessments by the Florida Patient's Compensation Fund for and against any and all hospitals located in said County. 2. That the Clerk of said Board is hereby directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the local delega- tion for Monroe County with the request that said delegation sponsor whatever legis lation is required and needed to relieve this burden. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 8th day of March, 1985.
