Resolution 273-1985 Mayor Wilhelmina Harvey RESOLUTION NO.2?) -1985 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF SEPTEM- BER 17 THROUGH 23, 1985, AS CONSTITUTION WEEK. WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States of America was drafted on September 17, 1787, and was ratified on June 21, 1788, and became effective March 4, 1789, and WHEREAS, the United States of America will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution in 1987, and WHEREAS, it is the privilege and duty of the American people to commemorate the one hundred ninety-seventh anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America with appropriate ceremonies and activities, and WHEREAS, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuance of a procla- mation by the President of the United States of America designat- ing September 17 through 23, of each year as Constitution Week, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board does hereby proclaim the week of September 17 through 23, 1984, as Constitution Week and urge all citizens to study the Constitution of the United States, to express gratitude for the privilege of American citizenship in our republic functioning under the superb body of laws, The Constitution of the United States of America. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 20th day of September, A.D. 1985.
