RESOLUTION NO .200-1984
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, RENAMING THE MONROE
COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY IN KEY WEST; THE NEW NAME
OF SAID LIBRARY TO BE: MONROE COUNTY/MAY HILL
RUSSELL LIBRARY.
WHEREAS, MAY HILL RUSSELL, a native Conch, has devoted
her life to the betterment of her hometown, through educational
and civic outlets, on behalf of Monroe County, and
WHEREAS. because of her efforts and diligence, the
Monroe County Library in Key West, has become a well recognized
library, being useful to many citizens in Monroe County and
having a far reaching and very wholesome effect on the minds
and spirits of many of the citizens of this County, and
WHEREAS, in recognition and appreciation of her outstanding
contributions and devotion to the creation and development of
the Monroe County Public Library System, which includes the
headquarter library in Key West, three branches located in
Marathon, Islamorada, Key Largo and a bookmobile, which MAY
HILL RUSSELL administered for twenty years, prior to her
retirement, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
The Monroe County Library, located in Key West, be and
is as henceforth to be known as MONROE COUNTY/MAY HILL
RUSSELL LIBRARY.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners
of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said
Board held on the 13th day of July, A.D. 1984.
