RESOLUTION NO. 279 -1984
RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENTS MADE AND
RECORDED IN THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE
COUNTY COMMISSION OF MONROE COUNTY ON SEPTEM-
BER 21, 1984, AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT IN ACCORD WITH THE
CONTENTS HEREOF.
WHEREAS, the representatives of the Port Bougainville/Garden
Cove Major Developments have reached an understanding with the
handling of emergency and other related services for the area
described herein, and
WHEREAS, E .M. S. by and through the offices of Mr. Reggie
Paros, Director of E.M.S. have reached an understanding with the
representatives of Port Bougainville/Garden Cove, and
WHEREAS, these understandings have been accomplished between
the Director of E.M.S. and the representatives of Port Bougain-
ville/Garden Cove complex and will be the subject of an agreement
entered into and executed by both the representatives of Port
Bougainville/Garden Cove complex and the County, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the understanding presented to the
Commission on behalf of the Port Bougainville/Garden Cove Major
Developments and Reggie Paros as the Director of E.M.S. has been
fully described to the Commission and has been approved by the
Monroe County Commission as follows:
1. (a) Port Bougainville/Garden Cove agrees to
purchase and donate one (1) emergency medical
care vehicle (ambulance).
(b) Port Bougainville/Garden Cove agrees to
purchase and donate a medical and dispatch radio
system for installation in the described vehicle.
(c) Port Bougainville/Garden Cove agrees to
donate twenty (20) feet (more or less) of space on
the proposed Garden Cove communication tower for
installation of E.M.S. radio transmission
equipment.
(d) Port Bougainville/Garden Cove agrees on a
perpetual basis assistance to Key Largo Volunteer
Ambulance Corps, Inc. in the recruiting, staffing
and training of volunteer ambulance personnel.
(e) Port Bougainville/Garden Cove agrees to
provide a permanent ambulance station at the
Garden Cove project for use by the Corps when or
if it determines such is necessary.
(f) Port Bougainville/Garden Cove agrees to
provide the stated capitol improvements upon the
closing of 55 units in the Garden Cove complex and
750 units in the Port Bougainville project.
2. The Monroe County E.M.S. - Taxing District 6
agrees to maintain an emergency vehicle on or near
the Port Bougainville/Garden Cove Developments.
3. The parties mutually agree, each with the other,
that the ambulance will be staffed by and under
the control of the Key Largo Volunteer Ambulance
Corps, Inc. or such agency as may be designated by
the Monroe County E.M.S. Director.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the agreements
authorized herein will be put into contract form and the Mayor of
Monroe County, Florida, is hereby authorized to execute the same.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 21st day of September, A.D. 1984.
