Resolution 307-1984 Commissioner Wilhelmina Harvey RESOLUTION NO. 307_1984 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CITY ELECTRIC SYSTEM OF THE UTILITY BOARD OF THE CITY OF KEY WEST, FLORIDA'S EFFORTS TO NEGOTIATE AN INTERCONNECTION AND TRANSMISSION AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA KEYS ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, INC. WHEREAS, the City Electric System of the Utility Board of the City of Key West, Florida, has for the past ten years attempted to negotiate an interconnection and transmission agreement with the Florida.Keys Electric Cooperative, Inc., and WHEREAS, the City Electric System has initiated and secured technical studies determining that such an agreement would be of substantial benefit to both the residents of Key West and to members of the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative, Inc" and WHEREAS, until this point, the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative, Inc. has been unwilling to execute any such agreement with the City Electric System, and WHEREAS, the City Electric System on September 14, 1984, filed an application with the Florida Public Service Commission in Tallahassee in an attempt to secure an order requiring the interconnection of the two systems and the transmission of at least 50 MW of power by Florida Keys Electric Cooperative, Inc. on behalf of the City Electric System, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: Section 1. That the County Commission of Monroe County, Florida, hereby supports and advocates the entering into of an interconnection and transmission agreement between the City Electric System and the Florida Key Electric Cooperative, Inc, Section 2. That the County Commission of Monroe County, Florida, encourages negotiations to continue so as to resolve as quickly as possible the securing of an agreement between the parties herein mentioned, which will be in the best interest of the residents and citizens of both areas of Monroe County served by the two respective systems. Section 3. That the efforts of the City Electric System before the Public Service Commission to obtain the order as in referred to hereinabove is supported and encouraged by the County Commission of Monroe County, Florida.
