Resolution 100-1982 RESOLUTION NO, 100 -1982 A RESOLUTION REGARDING CONSIDERATION OF SEN,ATE BILL 681. WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature is in the process of considering Senate Bill 681 for the purpose of regu1at~ng the cosmetic industry in the State of Florida and establishing fees for said industry, and, WHEREAS, the Food and Drug Administration currently regulates those cosmetic industries now involved in Interstate Commerce, and WHEREAS, further regulation of those Florida cosmetic industries involved in Interstate Commerce would not add significantly to the health and welfare of the citizenry of the State, and WHEREAS, the cosmetic industry in Monroe County currently is responsible for better than $600,000 a year in national advertising and attention for the Florida Keys without which the County would suffer a significant loss of publicity for and income for its number one industry being tourism, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners does hereby go on record in support of its number one manufacturing industry, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Commission does hereby request the Florida Legislature to exempt those cosmetic firms engaged in Interstate Commerce from the provision of Senate Bill 681.
