Resolution 173-1983 RESOLUTION 173-1983 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES TO REMOVE DERE- LICT VESSELS FROM THE WATERS OF MONROE COUNTY OR TO FUND SUCH A PROGRAM IN MONROE COUNTY. WHEREAS, derelict vessels are presenting a problem to Monroe County, and WHEREAS, the Board of county Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, is desirous of obtaining State assistance in alleviating the situation, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: 1. That said Board hereby requests the Department of Natural Resources and the Governor and Cabinet of the State of Florida to conduct a derelict vessel clean-up in the Florida Keys, thus removing any and all vessels that are abandoned and have become a hazard to the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of Monroe County, Florida. 2. That, in the alternative, if the Department of Natural Resources opts not to engage in a derelict vessel campaign in Monroe County that the necessary funds be made available to Monroe County by either the Department of Natural Resources or the Governor and the Cabinet of the State of Florida to fund such campaign. 3. That the various state agencies and the State Cabinet be furnished with a copy of this resolution by the Clerk of the County Commission.
