RESOLUTION NO. 178 -1983
A RESOLUTION NAMING THE AARP BUILDING, MARATHON,
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, THE MELVIN L. LEVITT
BUILDING, AND PROVIDING THAT A PROPER PLAQUE OR
MONUMENT BE AFFIXED TO SAID BUILDING EVIDENCING
THE NAMING THEREOF.
WHEREAS, Melvin L. Levitt has been for some time one of the
most instrumental figures in providing for the needs of the Senior
Citizens of Monroe County and has untiringly devoted his efforts
to the securing of funds for the building of the various Senior
Centers in Monroe County, and
WHEREAS, he has been able to secure for Monroe County funds
to erect the latest of the AARP Centers in Marathon, Florida, and
WHEREAS, the County Commission of Monroe County has concluded
that said services should be remembered by the naming of this
building for the aforesaid Melvin L. Levitt, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNTY COMMISSION OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1. The AARP Center, now being constructed 1n Marathon be
named the MELVIN L. LEVITT BUILDING.
2. That a proper plaque or monument be erected and affixed
to said building in a prominent place signifying the naming of
said building as 1S hereinabove directed.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Board of County
Commissioners on this ~hday of June , A.D. 1983.
