Resolution 195-1983 Billy Wagner, Di )r Civil Defense RESOLUTION NO. 195-1983 RESOLUTION DESIGNATING J. S. NEVIASER, M.D. CIVIL DEFENSE MEDICAL DIRECTOR FOR MONROE COUNTY DURING TIMES OF DISASTER. WHEREAS, during the time that Monroe County may be faced with a hurricane or other disaster, it will be necessary to coordinate patient evacuation and emergency medical staffing among the hospitals and skilled nursing facilities existing in Monroe County, and WHEREAS, the most effective and expedient means of accomplish- ing the abovementioned coordination is through the establishment of the position of Civil Defense Medical Director to serve Monroe County in times of disaster, and through the designation of a skilled medical professional to serve in that position, and WHEREAS, J. S. Neviaser, M.D. presently serves as Vice-Chief of Staff and Head of the Emergency Room Committee for Fishermen's Hos- pita 1 in Marathon and is eminently qualified as a medical doctor and has indicated his willingness to serve in the position of Civil Defense Medical Director, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: 1. That J. S. Neviaser, M.D. shall be designated as Civil Defense Medical Director for Monroe County during times of disaster. 2. That the Civil Defense Medical Director be responsible for the development and coordination of patient evacuation procedures and emergency medical staffing among all the hospitals and skilled nurs- lng facilities existing in Monroe County. 3. That in the execution of the responsibilities described in paragraph 2 above, he coordinate his efforts and cooperate fully with Monroe County Civil Defense, Monroe County Emergency Services, Monroe County Department of Social Services, and the Monroe County Health Department. 4. That J. S. Neviaser, M.D. will serve in the position of Civil Defense Medical Director on a purely voluntary basis at no cost to Monroe County. -2- 5. That the Civil Defense Medical DIrector in conjunction with the Monroe County Director of Civil Defense designate a suitably qualified individual to serve as an alternate for this position in the event that the Civil Defense Medical Director is not available during an emergency. 6. That a copy of this resolution be sent to all hospitals and nursing home facilities ln Monroe County, Florida. Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 10th day of June, A.D. 1983.
