RESOLUTION NO. 134-1993
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO.
111-1993, CONCERNING USE OF TOURIST DEVELOPMENT TAX
FUNDS FOR PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR
RECONSTRUCTION OF WHITE STREET PIER.
WHEREAS, on March 4, 1993, the Board of County Commissioners
passed and adopted Resolution No. 111-1993, and
WHEREAS,
said Resolution authorized the use of an
unspecified amount of Tourist Development Tax revenue previously
reserved for the restoration of Smathers Beach, for the

authorized to prepare and
request for qualifications for a design professional for the
reconstruction of White Street Pier, and
WHEREAS, the Beach Advisory Council recommends that the
project be performed by the City of Key West, as the owner of the
White Street Pier, and the City Engineer has agreed to be
responsible for the design and reconstruction of the pier, and
WHEREAS, the original Resolution is being modified so as to
authorize the City of Key West to utilize the Tourist Development
Tax funds previously approved for the plans and specifications
for the White Street Pier reconstruction and the realignment of
Rest and Higgs Beaches as originally provided in Resolution No.
111-1993, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that Resolution No. 111-1993 is modified
so as to authorize the City of Key West to use Tourist
Development Tax funds for the preparation of the plans and
specifications for the design and reconstruction of the White
Street Pier and the realignment of Rest and Higgs Beaches.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of the Board held on

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE USE OF TOURIS~
DEVELOPMENT TAX REVENUE RESERVED FOR THE SMATHERS BEACH
RESTORATION FOR THE PREPARATION OF PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE WHITE
STREET PIER AND THE REALIGNMENT OF REST AND HIGGS
BEACHES AND AUTHORIZ ING A REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS
FOR A DESIGN PROFESSIONAL TO PREPARE PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS FOR THOSE PROJECTS.
WHEREAS, the reconstruction of the White Street Pier and the
realignment of Rest and Higgs Beaches is an integral part of the
Smathers Beach restoration projectJ and
WHEREAS, the County C011lDission has reserved tourist
development tax revenue for the restoration of Smathers Beach,
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
Section 1.
That Board of County Commissioners hereby

authorizes the use of tourist development tax revenue previously
reserved for the restoration of Smathers Beach for the
preparation of plans and specifications for the reconstruction of
the White Street Pier and the realignment of Rest and Higgs
Beaches.
Section 2.
The County Administrator is authorized to
prepare and publish a request for qualifications for a design
professional to prepare plans and specifications for:
a) The reconstruction of the White Street Pier by placing

two Thirty-five (35) feet wide gaps in the Pier and spanning
those gaps with pre-cast concrete; and
b) The realignment of the portions of Rest and Higgs Beach
adj acent to the Pier made necessary by the alteration of the
near-shore water flow due to the presence of the gaps in the
Pier.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 4th
