RESOLUTION NO. 131-1983
RESOLUTION OPPOSING HOUSE BILL 194.
WHEREAS, Monroe County has more saltwater shoreline and fish-
ing than any other County in the United States of America, and
WHEREAS, the tourist industry is almost totally dependent upon
the saltwater resource, and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida has decided, without any public
hearings, public awareness and local representation, to discuss
and/or contemplate the introduction of a saltwater fishing license
without consideration of the local impact, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That said Board is opposed to House Bill 194 or any like
it because of the economic impact such legislation would have on
the County.
2. That the Clerk of said Board is hereby instructed to for-
ward certified copies of this resolution to the Monroe County legis-
lative delegation.
Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on
the 29th day of April, A.D. 1983.
