Resolution 046-1983 RESOLUTION NO. 046 - 1983 A RESOLUTION CALLING ON THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY TO UTILIZE THEIR BEST EFFORTS TO CORRECT MINOR ERRORS AND DISCREPANCIES IN THE REVISED FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAPS FOR UNINCORPORATED AREAS OF MONROE COUNTY AND TO IMPLEMENT THE REVISED AND CORRECTED FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAPS AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE. WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, has received the Flood Insurance Study (Wave Height Analysis) for Unincorporated Areas of Monroe County (Community No. 125129) and the revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps (Exhibit 1), prepared by Dames and Moore, consultants to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. WHEREAS, the revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps for unincorporated areas of Monroe County are presently advertised for public comment and, unless challenged by the Monroe County Commission, will be adopted for use in determining flood insurance rates for citizens of Monroe County. WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, has indicated its intention to insure that the proposed Flood Insurance Rate Maps do not contain technical errors or omissions, which may preclude provision of flood insurance to citizens of Monroe County at rates which are fair and equitable, by directing the firm of Post, Buckley, Schuh &: Jernigan, Inc., as Consulting Engineers to Monroe County, to review the proposed Flood Insurance Rate Maps and prepare a preliminary report outlining errors or omissions in the preparation of the maps. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: 1. The County recommend that the Federal Emergency Management Agency modify the proposed Flood Insurance Rate Maps as recommended in the preliminary report prepared by Post, Buckley, Schuh &: Jernigan, Inc. 2. The County urge that the Federal Emergency Management Agency process implementation of the modified Flood Insurance Rate Maps expeditiously in order for citizens of Monroe County to benefit, where possible, from any resulting rate reduction. Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 4th day of February, A.D., 1983.
